Friday Not-So-Random 10 (Tax Day Edition)

I spent last night finishing up taxes, so I didn’t have much time to write anything for today. In the spirit of what is becoming Music Friday, here’s a quick set of Music for Tax Day Not Written by the Beatles. Feel free to add songs in the comments, spin your own Random 10, rant about taxes....

Anyhow, here be the tunes:

  1. One More Dollar - Gillian Welch
  2. Add It Up - The Violent Femmes
  3. Workingman Blues - Louis Armstrong & King Oliver Creole Jazz Band
  4. Silver and Gold - U2
  5. Money Makes the Monkey Dance - Nil Lara
  6. Murder by Numbers - The Police
  7. File Me Away - Badly Drawn Boy
  8. Dollars & Cents - Radiohead
  9. Finest Worksong - R.E.M.
  10. You Pay Your Money and You Take Your Chance - Bruce Cockburn

Speaking of themed songs, I’m responsible for the music at an upcoming graduation banquet my wife is helping to coordinate. I’m trying to avoid the obvious cheesy mainstream songs you’d expect at something like that (Greenday’s “Good Riddance (Time of Your Life)”, etc.). I’ve got quite a list already, but I need five hours worth of stuff. Anybody got any suggestions?

i’ll have to give that some thought, kevin, since nothing comes to mind immediately.

to spark some ideas, could you shoot me a partial list of what you’ve got in mind so i can get a better feeling for just how thematic you’re trying to get and whether there’s an overall music style you’re shooting for?
