Friday Random 10: Return of the iPod

My trusty iPod broke down last week. The hard drive grew tired of being at my beck and call and went kaput.

Fortunately, it was still under warranty, so I sent it in for repair. Instead of repairing it, Apple sent me a brand new replacement iPod.

So, here is my first Friday Random 10 courtesy of zalmPod2: Electric Boogaloo.

  1. Streets of Fire - The New Pornographers
  2. Jesus, Etc. - Wilco
  3. Air - Erin McKeown
  4. Sé Lest - Sigur Rós
  5. Bread and Wine - Peter Gabriel
  6. He Lays in the Reins - Iron & Wine / Calexico
  7. Last Goodbye (live) - Jeff Buckley
  8. Neighborhood #2 (Laika) - The Arcade Fire
  9. Backdrifts - Radiohead
  10. It Ain’t Necessarily So - The Jody Grind

Spiffy. iPod never sends me anything free. Bastards.

Mine is an all Knoxville Random 10, courtesy of the first 10 songs I can think of. Starting now:

Scott Miller - Absolution
Daniel Roop - Sunsphere Shots
Todd Steed - North Knoxville
Dixie Dirt - Fast Food Media
Tenderhooks - Mine All Mine
Mustard - Afraid of David Cassady
Jag Star - Home
Shovelbearer - Symphonica Factorio
The Royal Bangs - Robotic Spiders Inside Your Secret Eye (Oh Darlin???)
Half-Handed Cloud - Grandfather Foreskin (Fine, so he lives in Berkeley now, but Knoxville had him first, dammit!)

I didn’t realize the Iron & Wine and Calexico EP was out!  Woohoo!  (Is it worth getting?  I’m not serious, but tell me anyway.)

Yeah, it snuck up on me, too.  For some reason, I had it in my head that the release date was the 20th, but it actually came out the same day as the Sigur Rs album.  It’s taken me some time to disengage enough from that to give In the Reins more attention.

Not that you need to be told this, but it’s definitely worth getting.  The collaboration works as well as you might think, but it’s also full of surprises.

I’m actually in the middle of writing a more comprehensive review, so I’ll have more to say later today (I hope).
