Root, Root, Root for the Home Team

Red Sox-Yankees. Three games at Fenway for the playoffs.

Not to sound like a frickin’ commercial, but it really doesn’t get any better than this.

Oh, it’s on.

(No, really, it’s on. I gotta go.)

Update: So far, so good. Tied with two home games to go.

Sunday update: Alrighty then. All told, it was a trifle anticlimactic, but a fun weekend of baseball nonetheless. Onward to the playoffs. First stop, Chicago.

10 Ripples from “Root, Root, Root for the Home Team”

FIRST stop?!  Come on, you broke your streak and it was the greatest thing ever.  Let us have a year--I guarantee it won’t take even the tiniest bit of glory away from the last 8 games of ‘04…

Even if it’s Cards-Sox (White, that is), which would be fun, there’s no way the passion will match your comeback against the Yanks.  The 2005 Sox, one could argue, have their nemesis in the 1919 Sox, and they neither need nor have any rivals of the non-mythical variety.

Heh.  I wondered who would be the first Chicagoan to flinch at that one.

Look, if the White Sox can beat Boston, I’ll cheer for them through to the end.  But that doesn’t mean I’m going to do so in this series.  This should be a fun one, though.  And Chicago’s got a lot of advantages going in.

But that doesn’t change the fact that Boston has pounded Contreras since he came into the league.  Sure, he’s had a good second half. But we’ll see how much has changed later today.

By the way, since the game is on at like 1pm here, I’m taping it and watching it later.  So if you can delay your taunting accordingly, I’d be mighty appreciative.

I’m not saying whether I’ll be the one taunting or not, but it’s already a good game, and it ain’t half over.

Ugh.  Thank goodness for the fast forward button.

Gotta tip the hat, Contreras was great.  And nobody hit their spots for Boston.

Ugly.

Don’t worry.  As a long time White Sox fan, I can assure you that your Carmines will win 1-0 tomorrow.

I really liked Tony Graffanino when he was with the White Sox.

I really love Tony Graffanino now that he is with the Red Sox.

Well, well.  ChiSox hold serve.

Nice game.  One big mistake and Chicago made them pay, just like great teams do.

Back to Fenway for an elimination game.  I think I’ve heard this story a few times before.  Should be fun.

Well he’s no Bill Buckner.

Heh.

There’s nothing like relying on an infielder who learned how to field in Chicago.

Alrighty, Sox fans.  Same deal as Game One… I’m taping the game to watch later.

So if Wake’s knuckler doesn’t knuckle today and you want to celebrate the first postseason series victory by the White Sox in your lifetime, feel free to do so somewhere else for a few hours.  There will be plenty of time for taunting once I’m done watching the tape.

I’d do the same for you, if, um, the earth started spinning the other direction.
