The World’s Got Me Dizzy Again

One of the strange things about moving to California after living just about anywhere else in the country is that you really do lose track of time. The weather is so relatively consistent that, apart from the fact that rain usually means winter, it gets a little seasonally disorienting. As I know that some of you are digging out from under some late-March snowfall, I should say that this is by no means a complaint. But things just kinda creep up on you. Like Easter, for example. Is today already Maundy Thursday? Really? Sheesh. Maybe I really should start giving things up for Lent.

And we’re already halfway through the NCAA tournament. When did that happen? Usually I pay more attention, but I don’t really have a team this year, since Virginia played the kind of basketball you might expect from Oklahoma Baptist University. I guess I could cheer for Illinois or Michigan State, since I’ve got good friends who are, but I’ll admit that I’m just not in to it yet.

I know that I haven’t written much recently. Sorry. Truth be told, I’m a little tired. And it’s not like I have a newborn or a house to renovate. Actually, I have been writing, I just haven’t finished much. The middle parts are good, but the beginnings and endings not so much. I’ve even skipped two concerts this week that I was really looking forward to: Chris Smither/Jeffrey Foucault last night and M. Ward/Norfolk & Western tonight. Instead of heading across the bay tonight, I decided to grab a few new cds and chill out with those instead. I’ll let you know if they’re any good.

Wow. To think this blather may actually show up in someone’s RSS reader. If you’ve read this far, I owe you a quarter.

Ding!  Tired here, too, from planning renovations.  Don’t think our remodel will affect the eaves, though.

renovations?  to what?  (as if the house we visited last is really the way it’s set up now.)

Well, the snow has melted, but so far the Illini haven’t.  You really should watch ttonight...the mere possibility that MSU could knock out Duke is worth skipping another concert or two, isn’t it?

And now that I mention it, there’s more flurries falling as we speak.  Hey, is daylight savings time even noticeable at all out there?

And Cheryl, eaves or no, at least you can read Parenting magazine and get all the references.

Ah, the snow *had* melted. But it’s snowing again now (though not really sticking). Grrrrrrrr. It’s almost April! Stop it!

I’m rooting for Kentucky and Louisville.

Yes, you could cheer for MSU...if they weren’t going to get SLAUGHTERED by Coach K and his boyz.

you’ve gotta be a little more optimistic than that, brandon.  (although there’s nothing new you can teach me about fatalistic attitudes regarding playing duke.)

as i explained to a friend the other day, any residual good will i have for the acc as a conference does not in any way extend to duke.  as far as i’m concerned, the sooner they go down, the happier i am.  and if state’s the one to do it, then all the better.  so, um, go spartans!  i’m not going to be home in time to watch tonight, but i’ll try to open up gamecast in the background.

arggh.  the convenience store around the corner is showing pro basketball.

good guys up by 6 over duke with under 10 left.  although that’s nothing if redick is starting to heat up.

all i know is, 90-second auto-refresh on espn.com is a sucky way to watch college basketball.
