Who Left This Thing On?
I haven’t written since April, and yet I’m still paying the hosting bills. I know, I can’t explain it either.
Over the past couple of weeks, I’ve had two people observe that I haven’t written anything since Vonnegut left us. Which is true, but not in a McLeanesque “The Day the Writing Died” black armband way. I’m not that clever.
Far from it, in fact. Truth be told, I’ve been in a creative slump for that long and then some. I haven’t been terribly good at my job, and I’ve been even worse as a writer. Not that I was ever particularly brilliant at either, but I’ve realized over the past few months just how much I rely on creative output to feel good about myself.
So… I think it’s time to sweep away some cobwebs and see if I can get even a dim reflection of my groove back.
I make no promises, save that I won’t go dark for another three months again.

I don’t think it’s self serving to get some of your sense of worth from creative output. At least I hope it’s not.
Welcome back, again.

I’ve been completely in the same boat lately. Especially the part about creative output making you feel good about yourself…
Couldn’t have said it better myself.
Maybe this will be an inspiration for me to kick start my own little corner of the blogosphere.
Good to see ya back, Zalm. BTW--how’s fantasy baseball treating ya? Also, did you pick up the new Stars album that dropped on iTunes two months before the reported release date?

Glad you’re back. Like most of the American public, I don’t care if you feed me good food, as long as you provide something…

Thanks, kids. Most days, I still don’t feel like writing anything, so we’ll see how this goes.
The new Stars album showed up on eMusic this week, so I grabbed it a day or two ago. I like it, but there’s less Amy and fewer strings than the last album, both of which seem like mistakes to me. Several tracks actually remind me a lot of The Beautiful South. Not that that’s a bad thing, but it’s not quite what I’d expected.
The baseball’s going pretty well. I’m hovering around second place in both leagues, which has kept me pretty involved. In related news, I think I’m in love with Ryan Braun.
